Boost The Value Of Your Home By Fixing Up The Garden

Well hello there fellow bloggers, I’ve just been reading my last post and I’ve realised I can go into a little bit more detail on a piece of advice I gave. If you read it, you’ll know I was talking about selling a home fast. One of the ways I talked about doing this was a little something called curb appeal. But, I only scratched the service of this topic so for those of you eager to sell a house I think a little more information is necessary. By improving your home’s curb appeal, you can actually get a much higher offer on your house when you sell. There are a number of ways to do this.

1. Tidy Up Your Garden

When thinking about curb appeal, it is important that your garden looks neat and tidy to a potential buyer. This is quite simple to do, and it won’t take much of your time or effort. All you need is a good trim of the grass and to cut back any overhanging trees and bushes. This will ensure that your garden looks clean and clear. If you have been having a dry season, you may also want to use some grass growing to make sure your lawn looks full and lush.

2. Make Any Needed Repairs

Once you have finished cleaning and tidying the garden, it is time to get busy with repairs. You need to fix anything that is immediately noticeable to a visitor and perhaps a few things that aren’t. You would be surprised by the little details a potential buyer will notice.  For instance, if you have any weeds growing between gaps in paving stones you need to pull those out. You and I know that this has nothing to do with the quality of a home, but it is all about perception. Weeds make a house look like it has fallen into a state of disrepair. Other common fixes are repainting the garden fence and replacing any loose posts.

3. Make Your Garden Look Bigger

It’s pretty simply to make a garden look bigger than it is, but it will require some attention and you probably won’t be able to do this yourself. If you have a back garden, that is completely grass you need to think about dividing it into sections by laying down a patio. Once you have done this, you can think about making your garden look unique with a structure like a pergola. This makes the space look bigger while also adding a certain degree of perceived value to your home. Great Aussie Patios build pergolas, so you don’t have to worry about a difficult construction process. Once it is complete you will see the massive effect it has on your lawn.

4. Give It Some Character

If you have taken my advice and built a pergola patio feature this is going to be the pinnacle of your garden. But you also want to add some character to the rest of it. You can do this by planting some gorgeous, colourful flowers around the place or adding decorative ornaments.

Once you are finished, you won’t even recognise your back yard. This whole process can add at least ten grand on to the asking price when you sell.

I hope this has been a little helpful in boosting the value of your home.
