Happy Holidays!!

Well hasn't 2015 been a big year!? It has for me anyway, so may amazing things but best of all would have to be the new addition to our family, baby Georgie, born in September. She is now greeting us with smiles galore and making our days that little bit brighter. It's been a busy year for the blog too, I have been trying to post weekly, sometimes that works, other times it doesn't. I want to work to a schedule but with running around after two little ones aged 2 and 3 months it has been a little bit hard.
I do have so much in the works for you all for next year, I'm super excited for 2016. We will be teaming up with some fantastic businesses in the new year. I have found so many amazing small businesses lately and have fallen head over heels for so many of their products. Kids rooms are really on top of my LOVE list lately, I have so many fun stores to share with you. We are also only days away from signing a contract to build a house in our backyard, so fingers crossed that gets started early January. So many fun styling ideas coming your way!
For now I want to wish all an amazing holidays. I hope that this festive season your homes are filled with so much love and giggles and you enjoy celebrating the new year with a bang. I will be taking some time off to spend with my family for the next few weeks but look forward to being back on your screens in January

Christmas Decorations

Are you hosting Christmas dinner this year?? We are!! Probably one of most fun but stressful things to do on Christmas Day. As if we don't have enough going on with presents, bucket loads of family time and playing with the kids and their new toys we also need to decorate our home and organize the food! I love it though, so much fun and to see the smiles at the end of the day makes it all worth it!

Now to decide how to set everything up.....that's the best part.....making everything pretty! Now I'm not talking food styling, as fun as I think that is I kinda like working with stuff that won't burn my hands, get me dirty or create dirty dishes.

have so many ideas when it comes to decorations, whether it be table centre pieces or just general house decorations that I can't wait to share with you. I have fun playing with table centre decorations and trying to use some pretty decor that can work around food, something I won't have to move when we are eating. Mostly that doesn't work so I have had a bit of fun with plate placement and Bon Bon decorations this year. Check out some of my options.
I'm loving the blue decorations this year, I know it's not a traditional colour but it just looks so pretty! I also love a lazy decor look, it's a little more fun.
Or combine the two!
I'm also loving the rose gold decor that is oh so popular right now.
So many beautiful decorations around this year, it's so hard to fit them all on my tree. I would love to see your trees so feel free to share them in the comments.

Design Ideas For People With Bad Neighbours

Everybody needs good neighbours, right? Unfortunately, not everyone gets the pleasure of living near nice, friendly, and peaceful households. So, if all your luck has run out, and you end up with the neighbours from hell living next to you, what can you do about it?

Moving home is the most obvious idea that springs to mind. But, if you have spent years cultivating friendships in the area, love your life there, and have children in the local schools, it’s a big ask.

So, I’ve put together some simple design and improvements for you to try out. There’s an element of tongue in cheek here, for sure. But trust me - they might just make your life a little more bearable!

For the noisy neighbour

Noisy neighbours can cause havoc to your life. The din that emanates from their homes can be excruciating - and it can also cause you health problems. Stress, lack of sleep, an urge to commit a crime - none of them are ideal conditions!

So, try to dampen their noise by looking into soundproofing your home. Triple glazing your windows is a good start, but there are also some excellent sound insulation techniques out there these days.

You won’t live in perfect silence, but the noise will become a background hum, rather than a deafening din. Take a look over at the Soundblock website to see the type of thing you can expect.

For the dodgy characters

Many neighbourhoods have at least one household nearby that might be well acquainted with the local law enforcement. It’s a difficult thing to talk about without sounding snobby, but let’s be honest - it’s the nightmare scenario.

It might not be the family themselves, of course - it may be their friends or acquaintances that cause you concern. The key point to make is that you need to keep yourself on your toes.

If you get so much of a glimpse of a shady-looking character giving your home the once over, make sure you invest in some security. Get an alarm system, some motion sensor lighting for your garden, and secure your home with CCTV. In fact, you can never be too careful when it comes to protecting your property and your family. So, think about complementing your security system with one of these fine fellows.

For the over-friendly neighbour

At least those neighbours that you don’t like tend to stay away from you. But, there’s another kind that is, perhaps, even more irritating.

The over-friendly neighbour thinks that just because you live near each other, you are like long-lost relatives. And, that they can intrude into your life whenever they feel like it. Maybe they just waltz through your front door to say hello, or they are always taking a peek over the fence.

The first issue is easy to deal with - just call the police and invest in better locks. But the second? Nothing is more awkward when you are catching some rays in the privacy of your garden, and you realise your next door neighbour is getting an eyeful. So, maybe it’s time to invest in a bigger fence.

Electrifying it and putting barbed wire across the top are optional extras, of course.

8 Tips for an Incredible Looking Lawn

Having an incredible looking lawn is truly something to be proud of. It’ll make your garden look healthy, and it’ll stand out against the rest in your neighborhood. If you want to know the secrets for an incredible looking lawn, look no further:

Maintain Your Lawn Mower

You may have had your lawn mower for a while. However long you’ve had it, it’s important that you go out of your way to maintain it. Keeping the blades sharp and the whole thing in good condition will benefit your lawn to no end. You wouldn’t use a pair of blunt scissors on your hair, so don’t use blunt blades on your lawn.

Use a Special Fertilizer

A special fertilizer can help to keep your lawn lush and green. Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter to get your grass looking its absolute best in no time.

Use 1 inch, Once a Week

So many people think that you need to use a small amount of water a couple of times a week to keep your garden in good condition, but they’re wrong! A small sprinkling of water isn’t actually going to do much at all. You should try to use one inch of water, once a week to keep the grass looking its best.

Leave Your Grass Clippings Alone

A lot of people pick up their grass clippings after doing the lawn, as it keeps it looking tidier. However, if you want the best looking lawn, you should leave them. Your lawn will look great after a while, and you’ll save yourself some time! The grass clipping will decompose quickly, adding more nutrients to your grass and acting as a natural mulch.

Use Kitchen and Garden Waste for Better Grass

Why not use your kitchen and garden waste for better grass? All you have to do is make your own compost heap, and you’ll soon have a nutritious garden feed!

Alternate Your Mowing Patterns

Alternate your mowing patterns from time to time, so that your grass looks even and healthy. Make sure you only cut off as much as you need too. Don’t cut your grass too short!

Mow When the Grass is Dry

It’s always better to mow your grass when it’s dry. The grass won’t look nearly as neat and tidy if it’s wet, and your clippings will all clump together. Wait until the grass has dried, or do it before any predicted rain falls. You’ll get a much better finish!

Aerate Your Grass

Aerating your lawn gives the grass roots room to grow, and helps the grass to take in vital nutrients. A gas powered core aerator is best for this job!

I hope these 8 tips help you to make your lawn look amazing. The grass really doesn’t need to be greener on the other side; your garden can have it all! If you have any great tips for making your lawn look amazing, make sure you leave them below. Come back for more tips soon. Bye for now!

Revamp Your Outside Space For A Touch Of Outdoor Luxury

Lots of us strive to make our homes luxurious. We spend time researching the latest trends and brands to furnish our home. Decor is important to the luxury look. Each season, it’s important to revamp those finishing touches to give our homes a fresh and contemporary look.

It’s also possible to take as much care and attention to detail outdoors as well. When the weather is good, most of us like to enjoy our gardens. They make great entertaining spaces. Your garden could also be an ideal place to keep fit if you have a pool as well. Often, these places can become neglected or scruffy looking. It’s important to keep on top of your garden maintenance.

If you are looking to revamp your outdoor space for the Summer season, then there are plenty of exciting project ideas you can take on. Start with your pool area. This is usually the space that suffers in the cold season. You may need to call in your pool cleaner to get everything looking good again. But you could also redesign your pool area with new planting, paving and balustrades.

Paving to and from your pool area needn’t be dull and boring. Sandstone pavers offer a touch of luxury as well as a gorgeous honey colouring to your yard. Use them to surround the pool and as stepping stones to and from the area. They can be used all over your yard to lead you to the different areas. Some people use them as patio areas for dining too. Or you could use it as decorative paving to tidy up your lawn area.

The colour of sandstone is perfect for complementing lawn, planting, and wooden dining sets. The natural patterns look great on a dull or bright day. When you are redesigning your yard, it’s important to use colours that will look good whatever the weather. Choose from a palette of complementary colours like pinks and purples or oranges and reds. Some colours like yellows go with almost everything.

Luxury lighting fittings bring your garden to life even after dark. You can use lamps or fittings in your dining area. Why not install some pool lights so you can make the most of an evening swim or jacuzzi? Lighting the lawn and planting brings the colours of your garden to life at any time of the night or day. They can also be used alongside your pavers to help light your path to the house.

Lighting can be powered by solar panels. If you have water features or ponds, these can also be powered in this way to keep your new garden energy efficient. To add extra luxury to your outdoor area, why not use outdoor fairy lights to give it a touch of sparkle? They won’t cost you anything to run, but they can make any area feel cosy and warm.

There are plenty of ways you can add a touch of luxury to your garden. Glass panel balustrades, solar light fittings and sandstone pavers are just a few ideas you can try. Make the most of your outdoor space this Summer.

Christmas Party Theme?!

Tis the season ........that's right, Christmas is getting to close and I am far from prepared. To help get my head into the right spot I love to scroll the pages of Pinterest to get Christmas present ideas, however the present ideas aren't working for me right now because the main subject on my screen at the moment is Christmas parties! Who doesn't love to party and almost every weekend from now until Christmas is filled with some sort of Christmas party, whether it be family, friends or work. So to get in the spirit of the Christmas party I thought I would have a bit of fun with this post and share with you a party theme I have always wanted to do.....a casino party! How fun does that sound?!
I would love to host an amazing Christmas party with my friends and family this year based on the casino theme. I know it is a super expensive time of year so you wouldn't have to use actual money if you didn't want to, just pick up some play chips, allocate a certain amount to everyone that walks in the door and just have fun. Or if you love a bit of a gamble, make it fair and have a rule that you all start with the same amount, say $50-$100 per person, or more of course, it's completely up to you. If you all start with the same amount then it becomes more fun, if you lose it quickly it's gone and you get to watch but it means that there will be no cranky guests because you all started even. And then.....let the games begin!
There are so many amazing products available for casino themed parties, whether it be plates and cups or full card tables, you can hire caterers and waiters or just ask your friends to get a bit fancy and help you out. The options are endless with this theme, but where to start.....

The first place I would start is online, check out some casino's, have a look at their decor and style and learn the rules of the games. Then head out and start picking up your supplies. The first place I went was to Spotlight to grab some paper for some DIY decorations, some material to cover my tables with and any other casino themed products I could find. The colour scheme I have gone with is the basic red, black and white. Add glitter and sparkle to make it a bit more fancy and it looks great!
I also headed to my local Big W store where I managed to find a heap of casino/poker themed products including some fantastic cups, plates and invitations that fit in with my theme, basically Big W was the place to go!
Now let's get down to the good stuff, the tables!! The poker chips are super easy and super cheap, you can pick up a set at Big W, you can also pick up some of those fancy green hats for your dealers. The tables however are a little more pricey, you've got two options, buy one yourself, jump online to compare prices and see what you can find, or you can hire the equipment you need, check out Black Jack Nights to hire pretty much everything you need. Once you've got everything, set up your space as best as you can with as much room in front of the tables as possible. Unless you have a huge rumpus type room with little furniture, there is a fair chance you will need to clear out a few things. Then get your dealers ready to go, your friends in the door and party!! Doesn't that sound like the best night.....I hope some of you give it a go and send me through some photos, I can't wait to see what you come up with!
